The Star Foundation Christmas Tree, December 2011
This Christmas the Star Foundation have been given the opportunity to help more families in
need, by getting a Christmas Tree in the Octagon Shopping Centre. They have then asked local schools like Shobnall to help decorate it before it is donated to a family
in need of some
Christmas cheer. Two boys from our Reception class are seen here holding some of the decorations their class have made for the Christmas tree.

Year 6 Fair Trade Enterprise Fayre - July 2011

Year 6 have undertaken research into the principles of Fair Trade. They used their new found knowledge and presented a powerpoint to the children in assembly, so that they too understood the importance of selling goods at a fair price to the people that make them. Year 6 also organised a Free Trade Enterprise Fair. We were delighted to have received donated items and also items which were of free trade origin! The chocolate biscuits were especially popular! We are thrilled to announce that £300.59 was raised, a tremendous effort. Well done to Year 6 and to parents, friends and pupils who have supported this worthwhile venture. Special thanks to the Co-operative Society who sent us an information pack regarding ethical trading and to Tesco who gave us a £10 donation. All funds raised will be donated to Oxfam, a charity that supports the fair trade initiative, please follow link for further detail.

Tuesday 14th June 2011 Victoria Community School Visit
Children from Victoria Community School came to Shobnall to spend some time with their Year 6 pen-pals. The children had a picnic together followed by games on the field. Shobnall children gave a fantastic welcome to their visitors and some firm friendships were formed. We are now looking forward to visiting Victoria to take part in cultural activities and food tasting. For photographs from the visit please go to the Gallery page of the website.
Congratulations to Our Young Writers
Everyone loves the challenge of solving a good riddle. We are therefore thrilled and delighted that a number of our young pupils have used their writing talents to express their thoughts and feelings in a unique way, through poetic form. Their efforts have been recognised and have now been published in a book entitled “My First Riddle Staffordshire.” Please look at the pages which follow and enjoy the fun in guessing who or what the riddles are about. We hope you enjoy reading their contributions.
