The Parents Consultation Evenings took place on Tuesday 7th February and Thursday 9th February and gave parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s  progress, receive attendance information (up to Friday 3rd February 2012) and be given a copy of their child’s latest assessment results in English, Mathematics and Science.

Tudor World at The Falstaff Experience - Wednesday 11th January 2012

On Wednesday 11th January 2012 Year 4 got to school early, boarded a coach to go on an exciting trip to the famous Tudor city of Stratford upon Avon! Why Stratford upon Avon? In History the children have been learning all about the Tudors. The children where off to visit the award wining attraction ‘The Falstaff Experience’s Tudor World’. Set within one of Stratford's most historic buildings, Shrieve’s House barn, the children had a tour in the Tudor house going through a labyrinth of rooms, each one dedicated to giving the children an experience of the sights, sound and smells of 16th century England. Not only did the children learn even more about the Tudors but they also took part in a battle! During a workshop they learned all about the different weapons that Tudor soldiers would have used. Once they had done their basic training they headed across the Channel to do battle in France. (With a little help from using their imagination!) Once there they set off to the battle field and fought gallantly against the French! After all that travelling Year 4 felt very tired so it was back onto the coach for a well deserved rest back to Shobnall Primary School.

WoW - Walk Once a Week

Welcome to the wonderful world of WoW – which stands for Walk Once a Week. WoW is an easy and effective way to get more children walking to school, using collectable badges and wall charts. The scheme has been running since 2005 and there are now over 250,000 children across the country participating in WoW.

Walk to school week encourages parents and pupils to walk to school at least once a week throughout the school year. Children can record how they travel to school on a class wall chart. If they walk to school at least four times a month they receive a themed badge, all highly collectable and designed by the children themselves in a national competition. (Badges as above for October, November and December 2011.)

OFSTED Inspection

We have just been advised that we will be inspected for two days next week. The inspection team would very much like to hear parent or carer views of the school and have forwarded a questionnaire to us for distribution. The questionnaires will be given to pupils on Monday 9th and need to be returned to school on Tuesday 10th January, ready for when the inspectors arrive. We realise this is a quick turnaround and very much appreciate your support in this matter.

Please find a link to the Parent / Carers Inspection Notification Letter, the School Inspection Guide for Parents leaflet and the actual OFSTED Questionnaire for Parents and Carers should you wish to complete sooner (it will need to be printed off and handed in at school).

**STOP PRESS ** Inspectors rated our school as "Outstanding". We are delighted and wish to congratulate and thankyou all for supporting our school.

Goodbye to Ruth Urquhart

It is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye to Ruth Urquhart, who has temporarily been covering the Year 4 Class.  She has worked tremendously hard and has contributed to all walks of School Life.  Her enthusiasm, commitment and energy show no bounds.  Thank you Ruth, we wish you well, and know that you will quickly fit in to your new role.

Year Four Autumn Term History Project

The finale to Year Four’s study of the Tudors will be their trip to Tudor World in January 2012. However, we thought you would like to see our wall display and newspaper reports about the Battle of Bosworth Field and our Tudor Roses which we made in Art and DT. Finally, take a look at out ‘Tudor Court’ models complete with Privy Counsellors, Fools and Lords and Ladies which we have taken half term to make!
