Peripatetic Teachers
MR. MANSFIELD
I first started working at Shobnall in 1992 on a short term basis! I have been here ever since! I now work in many schools throughout Derbyshire and Staffordshire providing these schools with music provision.
I am married and have two children, Edward and Emma. Edward is a chorister at Lichfield Cathedral and Mrs Foster enjoys going to see him sing at the various services. Emma is a keen horse rider and has just started jumping! In my spare time I enjoy gardening and my other hobby bee keeping. I also perform in concerts with Karl’s Bavarian Brass all over the UK. I also perform in solo concerts on the pipe organ at various venues throughout the Midlands region.
MRS. WELCH
I was lucky enough to be introduced to Shobnall School in 1992 to coach hockey as part of the ESBC Shobnall Leisure Complex Schools hockey scheme and as part of this scheme I work in many schools throughout Derbyshire and Staffordshire providing schools with hockey coaching. Each day is different and each set of children are different, there is never a dull moment and the children always keep you thinking and solving new problems by coming up with new ideas. It is a privilege to be involved with Shobnall School, with children eager to learn and welcoming and supportive staff.
One of my proudest moments is when children from the school come along to the sessions at Barton hockey club, which is the club I play hockey at with my husband and children.
MRS. LESLEY
I have worked in a number of schools teaching music to both secondary and primary school children having worked in Birmingham and Dudley I moved to Staffordshire County Council during the last few years. I enjoy playing all types of musical instruments but especially my clarinet. In my spare time I like to relax in the garden while my husband does the weeding!
I really enjoy teaching recorders at Shobnall School and was particularly proud when the children performed at Lichfield Cathedral.
MR. CHAPMAN
I am the tutor for the violin and electronic keyboard. I train pupils from the first stages of learning the instrument and take them through to nationally accredited exams if they wish to proceed to that stage. Lessons are intended to be both informative and fun and also offer the opportunity for pupils to work together.
MRS. BECK
I have been a peripatetic music teacher for the last twenty one years working in schools in Derbyshire and Staffordshire (some for the whole of that time), although it has only been in recent years that I have been asked to teach woodwind at Shobnall Primary. At the moment I have three flute pupils but it would be nice to see some more students opting to play flutes and clarinets.
I am married with two grown up children and have just become a grandmother for the first time. My daughter followed in my footsteps and is a music teacher at a school in Wales and I am hoping that my grand daughter will want to become a musician too.
