2010-2011

The school council have been incredibly proactive this year and have been involved in many different issues surrounding the school and its environment.

  • The school council helped arrange a new playhouse which has been popularly received by all children in the foundation stage.
  • The council played a key role in organising the School Talent Show and also in the judging of the competition.
  • It was the school council that suggested and pushed through the idea of school dinner selection this year. The children on the council suggested that it would be a fairer way to ensure the food of your choice whilst also reducing food waste. This has really been greatly received and pupils do appear to like this initiative promoted by our School Council

The children involved have been proactive throughout the year and have submitted a number of different ideas for the development of the school grounds but of course funding some of these ideas is proving a stumbling block at present.

Most recently the children planned and organised a school cake sale which helped raise funds to send over work to our partner school, Nsawo Primary in Uganda.

Work of the School Council

Shobnall School Council plays a big part in our school and we value the voices and opinions of our children.  We meet regularly to discuss any issues and areas for development. The school council also have the important job of judging school competitions such as the Easter bonnet parade and healthy lunchbox designs.

Here are some of the changes that the council have made over the past few years:

  • Introduction of school ties
  • Lunchtime play equipment
  • Friendship stops
  • Wet playtime games
  • Re-designing of the new hall
  • Sharing ideas for new classroom furniture
  • Developing healthy meals for school dinners
