Today, twenty six nursery children, Mrs. Wheeler and her team of three Forest School assistants set off to experience Shobnall Primary School’s Forest School for the very first time. Once dressed in their layers, they set off across the playground to meet a new friend, ‘Adventure Ted’.

Adventure Ted explained to the children that the Forest School is a special, magicial place in fact, where the children can have the opportunity to play imaginatively with one another and learn lots and lots about the outdoors. Today, Adventure Ted gave the children some rules about what we should and shouldn’t do at the Forest School and took them on a special exportation of each corner of the site.

The children had a wonderful time familiarising themselves with their new surroundings!

After listening to and joining in with the story, ‘Owl Babies’, the children decided that they wanted to take good care of the birds in the school grounds. They discussed what birds like to eat and made some wonderful seed and mealworm feeders for the birds to eat during these cold winter days.

Before leaving to head back to school, the nursery children were treated to a biscuit and best of all, a lovely warm drink of hot chocolate!

What a lot of fun they had today!
