Lots of action was happening at Forest School this week. Along with it being our last session this half term, our new Forest School shed and log store has arrived at school and work has begun to erect them! Very exciting!

This week Aleeza brought along some marshmallows to toast on our new fire pit. So our session began with a safety talk for using the campfire with everyone making sure that hair was tired back, no scarves were dangling and the children were aware of how to sit around the campfire using the ‘Respect’ position. Thankfully we had perfect weather conditions. It was a beautiful still day and the children loved the experience of sitting around the campfire toasting their marshmallows…not forgetting to blow them 12 times before they could be eaten!

Children spent the rest of their time perfecting their pyramids which were started last week and the tree planting continued. This week we also had a delivery of tree guards to protect our young saplings from animal damage, so we made sure each sapling was well and truly covered to give them the best possible start.

Our final session ended once more around the campfire for our hot chocolate and biscuit and a reflection on our favourite parts of our Forest School journey. It was lovely to recap on the past five weeks where memories of mud came flooding back along with learning how to use loppers and make elder beads. The children had certainly absorbed their learning.

We couldn’t end without our usual sing song and the request of last week’s fun song ‘A roo cha cha’. Well done to you all!
